Privacy Policy

Your privacy is our priority

PocketBudget stores all your financial data locally on your device by default. Cloud Sync is optional and requires you to create an account. We never sell your data and never use it for advertising.

1. Overview

PocketBudget (“we”, “our”, or “the app”) is a personal finance tracker that helps you manage income, expenses, budgets, and savings goals. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle your information when you use PocketBudget on Android or iOS.

By downloading or using PocketBudget, you agree to the practices described in this policy.

2. Information We Collect

PocketBudget is designed to work fully offline. The information you enter — transactions, budget categories, savings goals, and preferences — is stored in a local database on your device and never leaves it unless you choose to enable Cloud Sync.

If you create an account and enable Cloud Sync, the following data is transmitted to and stored on our secure cloud servers (powered by Supabase):

• Your email address (used for account authentication)
• Financial records you have entered: transactions, budget categories, and savings goals
• Basic device metadata (device type, OS version) for sync conflict resolution

We do not collect your full name, phone number, payment card details, precise location, or any biometric data.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use information solely to provide the PocketBudget service:

• To display your financial data within the app
• To sync your data across devices when Cloud Sync is enabled
• To restore your data after reinstalling the app or switching devices
• To authenticate your account securely

We do not use your financial data for advertising, behavioral profiling, or any purpose beyond providing and improving the app.

4. Local Storage (Offline Mode)

When you use PocketBudget without an account, all data is stored exclusively in a local SQLite database on your device. This data is never transmitted to any server.

Important: If you uninstall the app or clear its data without enabling Cloud Sync, your financial records will be permanently deleted. We strongly recommend enabling Cloud Backup to protect your data.

5. Cloud Sync & Supabase Optional

Cloud Sync is an optional feature that requires creating a PocketBudget account. When enabled, your data is securely transmitted to servers provided by Supabase, Inc.

• Data in transit is encrypted using TLS (Transport Layer Security)
• Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256
• Account authentication uses the PKCE (Proof Key for Code Exchange) flow — passwords are never stored in plain text

You can delete your cloud data and account at any time from the Settings screen. Supabase’s own privacy practices are available at supabase.com/privacy.

6. Data Sharing & Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal or financial information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.

We only share data with:

Supabase, Inc. — our cloud infrastructure provider (only when Cloud Sync is enabled)
Google Play Services — for app distribution and crash reporting on Android devices
We do not integrate any advertising SDKs or third-party analytics that access your financial data.

7. Data Retention

Local data is retained on your device until you delete it manually or uninstall the app.

Cloud data is retained for as long as your account remains active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated cloud data by contacting us at zayedbaloch@gmail.com. Deletion requests are processed within 30 days.

8. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your data:

• Access — Request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction — Request correction of inaccurate data
• Deletion — Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Portability — Export your data at any time using the in-app PDF or CSV export feature

9. Children’s Privacy

PocketBudget is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will take steps to delete such information.

10. Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data:

• Cloud data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest (AES-256)
• Authentication uses the PKCE flow — passwords are never stored in plain text
• Local data is protected by your device’s built-in security (screen lock, device encryption)

No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we continuously work to protect your information.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notice.

Your continued use of PocketBudget after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
